Publications
Following are publications produced by the OpenOil consultancy:
- Iraq’s Last Chance? Diffusing the Risks of a Petro-state? A paper for the Center for Global Development in Washington models a citizen oil dividend in Iraq. The paper models a dividend which takes advantage of Iraq’s rising production to leave current government expenditures at their 2011 level, beginning in 2012. There is also an Arabic language version available.
- Oil, Complicity and Revolution, Muammar Gaddafi’s Trillion Petrodollars – This is a chapter in my book on the Arab Spring: Karama! Travels through the Arab Spring, published by Quercus UK, explaining the conundrum of how Libya’s oil wealth has been wasted and what prospects are for its industry if there is better management.
- Iraq Oil Reporters Guide, version 0.3 - a small compendium of information detailing the background and context of Iraqi oilfields, installations and contracts to enable reporters to cover Iraq’s oil industry. An Arabic translation is currently in progress.
- Yemen Oil Reporters Guide, version 0.1 – a prototype for a compendium to Yemen’s oil industry for reporters on the same lines as the Iraqi guide.
